you are a single star / softer and dreamier

you are a single star

When she was a bride in the 70's, Judy made a traditional Dresden Plate quilt using sewing scraps from her own clothing.  In 2019, she unpicked the original quilt, mended it here and there with velvet, and reapplied the plates to new fabrics that she had coloured with natural dyes.  Seeing and touching the old faded fabrics takes the artist back to memories of her sensuous youth.

cotton, wool, rayon, silk, linen, velvet, natural dyes, cotton quilting thread, black wool thread. Hand quilted in a hoop.  227 x 227 or 89 x 89 inches.  A two-sided quilt. 2024
